Lindsay and her family have been proud South Bay residents and supporters for over 40 years. A Mira Costa High School and UC Santa Barbara graduate, Lindsay is the youngest of the Weems clan.  If you don’t recognize the name, just know that she may have served you pancakes a few weeks ago at Uncle Bills. You may have admired one of her handmade circle necklaces on a friend or customer of yours. She may have talked to you about one of the beach clean ups she organizes with the South Bay Chapter of Surfrider Foundation. Most likely, you have seen her on the beach playing in whatever volleyball tournament was taking place that weekend or maybe watched her run past you (as many of us have!) during the Hometown Fair 10k with her mom announcing her name as she crossed the finish line.

Those of us that are lucky enough to know Lindsay will tell you she is an amazing person. She has a tremendous spirit and her positive energy is infectious. Now it is our turn to support her as she has done for so many of us as she faces a tremendous challenge. Last week, Lindsay was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer.  She is currently recovering from surgery and began her chemo treatment today, which will continue for the next five months. Due to the enormous amount of costs Lindsay will have to endure physically, emotionally and financially, we are asking our amazing community to come together.

The past few weeks, Lindsay’s mantra has been “gettin’ it done” – if it’s surgery, chemo or just resting. She is ready to get done what she needs to do to fight this disease, get healthy and back on the beach!
